Record-Breaking Kiwi Revival: Taranaki Trust Translocates 146 Birds & Welcomes 100+ to Maunga in Epic 2025 Triumph
In a year of dedicated conservation efforts, the Trust has continued to make progress in helping safeguarding the Western Brown Kiwi, including:

We had a bumper year for kiwi releases, translocation 146 birds in and out of the region

Our Community Trapping project now protects kiwi on 28,000ha and encompasses almost 4000 traps

The Trust over delivered on its educational efforts with school visits, community talks, kiwi release event and public engagements, fostering greater public awareness in conservation at 67 events.

The Toi Foundation signaled its confidence in the Trust by granting us $500,000 over two years.

Volunteers contributed over 7000 hours to the trust’s operations.
- We partnered with Save the Kiwi and Wild For Taranaki to deliver the first Western Brown Kiwi Hui for over a decade in South Taranaki.
- We partnered with over 20 agencies, organisations, iwi and hapū on a variety of conservation projects.
