About Us

History

Following concerns expressed about the plight of kiwi in Taranaki a series of meetings were held by representative members of interested parties, including the Taranaki/Whanganui Conservation Board, Department of Conservation, Taranaki Regional Council, local branches of the Royal Forest and Bird Society of New Zealand, the Ornithological Society of New Zealand and members of the public.

From these meetings, the Taranaki Kiwi Trust was formed to assist in the conservation of Kiwi throughout the Region, and on 9th October 2001 a Deed of Trust for the Taranaki Kiwi Trust was completed and formally signed by the seven inaugural Trustees.
